Welcome

Welcome to my blog - nothing profound or earth-moving, just an aggregation of things I've seen that have amused me! There'll probably be the odd post from opera to food and maybe even a bit about trains (blame my Dad!) Please feel free to comment on any of the bits and pieces here, at least it'll make me think someone reads it ;)

Summer is here (!)

Hurrah! The one reason why I've remained a teacher this long - the holidays - are finally here. Seven-and-a-half weeks of no kids (apart from the school down the road where the main activity that the kids seem to do is play in the playground rather loudly) - wooohoo!

After the rush that is the commonly caught bug, endofterm-itis, it's been quite nice to sit on the roof, in the blazing sun, and do very little of anything really. Drinking a Nero's while the washing dried (outside for a change) seems to be a rare treat nowadays, especially as any sunny days seem, strangely, to have coincided with Monday-Friday 9-5, butnicely, not today!

At some point, shall be heading off somewhere in the direction of Bath - after working with Aussies and Kiwis for the last few years, and suffering them telling me what England is like, thought it'd be worth staying in England this summer, at least for a little while to explore nice bits of England, so shall be taking this:

and heading off towards Bath, Ludlow (foodie heaven apparently), the Wye Valley and other 'traditional' English places. Luckily though (!), I won't be 'out of range' for long, as have been playing with the new iPhone 3G for the last few days, and loving the Facebook and Twitterrific applications on there.

Anyhow, at the risk of sounding smug, I'm off to get some more sun ;)
